GoFundMe Campaign
Why a GoFundMe Campaign?
This project exists at the intersection of art, architecture, and community storytelling—and like most ambitious public art efforts, it requires meaningful upfront investment to bring it to life.
The primary materials used in this work (LEGO® bricks, specialty elements, large glass panels, and custom LED lighting) are high-quality and costly to source. I am personally funding a significant portion of the work, but I cannot realize the full vision alone. Based on designs completed so far, the projected cost for the models currently envisioned is approximately $15,655.
This GoFundMe campaign is about more than covering expenses. It’s an invitation for others who love Palm Springs, mid-century modern design, and public art to help build something tangible and lasting. I know there is an audience that wants to see this kind of work exist in the world, and this campaign allows the community to participate directly in its creation.
The campaign will be supported by a short video that shares the personal story behind the project, the artistic intent, and the long-term vision for public display.

How the Project will Unfold
The project will develop in two phases, allowing progress to begin immediately while laying the groundwork for a polished public presentation.
🔹 Phase 1: Model Construction
Phase 1 focuses on the meticulous construction of the LEGO® models themselves. Each build is designed to capture the character, proportions, and charm of Palm Springs’ iconic architecture, incorporating custom details such as:
-
-
Integrated LED lighting
-
Stickers and signage elements
-
Large glass panels and architectural features
-
Interior details where appropriate
-
Activating Phase 1 allows the creative work to begin immediately.

🔹 Phase 2: Public Display & Interpretation
Phase 2 centers on presentation and accessibility. This includes:
-
-
Custom display bases and decorative stands
-
Protective plexiglass dust enclosures suitable for public settings
-
Integrated power sources for lighting
-
Together, these phases transform the models from private works into a cohesive public art experience.
Funding Beyond
GoFundMe is only one component of the overall funding strategy. In parallel, I will be:
-
Applying for artist and cultural grants
-
Seeking sponsorships and partnerships
-
Engaging local civic leaders and organizations to explore pathways for public installation and long-term visibility
There is no fixed order for which models are built first. Construction timing will depend on funding, material availability, and display opportunities as they develop.
How Funds Will Be Used & Tracked
All funds raised through this campaign will be used exclusively to purchase:
-
LEGO® bricks and specialty elements
-
Lighting components and electronics
-
Build-specific materials required for Phase 1
Transparency is a core value of this project. A dedicated section of the project website will clearly document:
-
Funds raised
-
How donations are allocated
-
Progress updates tied to specific builds
Supporters will always know how their contributions are being used.
What Donors Receive
Every contribution, regardless of size, plays a role in bringing this project to life. In return, donors will receive meaningful recognition and connection to the work they helped create, including:
-
Recognition on the project website
-
Recognition on publicly displayed builds (where permitted), and always on the individual QR-code pages linked to each model
-
Early progress updates and behind-the-scenes photos during construction
-
Invitation to a private preview or virtual walkthrough once displays are complete
-
Limited digital rewards, such as signed project documentation
-
For larger contributions: sponsorship acknowledgment tied to a specific model or display element
This is not just a donation … it’s a chance to be permanently connected to a public art project that celebrates Palm Springs’ architectural identity in a truly unique medium.
